The PowerDMS Give Back Committee (GBC) loves to focus attention on any opportunity that contributes to making the world a better and brighter place. With the help of someawesome folks at Change This World, the GBC team is doing our best to feed the hungry. Change This World specializes in high-energy-food-packing events, and then ships the packaged foods to needy countries.
After hosting multiple food-packing parties—we’re practically pros at this point. As soon as the supplies arrived, we were anxious and ready to throw on some hair nets (and even beard nets—check out the picture below!), crank up the tunes, file into our respective assembly lines and start spreading happiness. A friendly competition between our two assembly-line teams added an extra element of fun to the food-packing frenzy.
Aside from all the fun and friendly competition, the sobering facts that one in five people in the world go to bed hungry every night, and 9,000 people lose the battle to malnourishment every day, is incredibly devastating. Interested in learning more about hosting a packing party or how you can donate to this amazing cause? Check out all the inspiring work Change This World is championing atwww.changethisworld.com. We’re so proud to support organizations that strive to change lives and make a difference.
Losing a loved one is painful beyond words. Waiting by their side, while they suffer, is another heart-wrenchingreality that no one ever wants to face. Hospice centers nationwide devote staff and facilities to ease as much pain as possible for patients and families faced with a grim diagnosis. Dedicated hospice team members provide endless care, hoping to brighten the final days for patients and their family members.
Hospice of the Comforter of Central Florida has upheld ideals of quality care and compassion since 1990. They lend symptom-management expertise and emotional support, to lessen stress and pain, while encouraging quality time with loved ones. The PowerDMS GBC made a financial donation to Central Florida’s Hospice of the Comforter to enable their team members to continue providing compassionate care and support for their patients. A courageous hero, and doting father of three, Deputy Sheriff Jonathan Scott Pine, met an ill fate when encountering a wanted felon suspected of vehicle burglaries in Windermere, Florida. After approaching the suspect, Deputy Pine was quickly ambushed and chased into a nearby neighborhood, where bullets were fired. One bullet struck Deputy Pine just above the protection of his bulletproof vest and damaged major arteries. He was the first officer in Florida to be killed in the line of duty this year.
PowerDMS is honored to provide software and support for public safety officials, and are infinitely proud of all those who risk their lives for the freedom of others. Our most heartfelt condolences are extended to the family of Deputy Sheriff Pine. His selflessness and bravery will never be forgotten. To learn how you, too, can contribute to the memorial fund benefitting his young family, devastated by this tragic loss, visit his website here.
