The news that firefighters are more likely to develop those cancers is worrying, and several agencies are taking measures to minimize those risks. One example is the Tucson Fire Department in Arizona, which is researching the threats and attempting to reduce them through cloud technology
As compared to the general population of the United States, firefighters experience a 9 percent rise in diagnoses and a 14 percent increase in cancer-related deaths, according to two recent reports by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.
