In response to requests from CALEA enrolled agencies in Mexico, as well as other Latin America countries, CALEA has published a Spanish version of the Standards for Law Enforcement Agencies through the PowerDMS platform. This new resource not only provides broader access internationally, it also supports enrolled agencies serving Spanish-speaking populations that may request access to the standards during assessment processes.
CALEA understands the importance of this new resource and has worked diligently to make this product available as quickly as possible. Additionally, efforts have already begun to translate the communications and training academy standards manuals, as well as the CALEA® Process and Programs Guide. The Spanish language version appears in the Standards Manual selection in PowerDMS Standards Lite, the electronic publications format that is made accessible to all CALEA clients. This version is also available from CALEA for non-enrolled agencies, individuals, and educational institutions through an annual subscription to the electronic publications. Agencies and individuals with current access will see the release within the publications library.
Although the current release of this publication has addressed the content of the document only, PowerDMS is developing plans to provide front-end navigational tools to support Spanish users. The timeline for this update has not been determined; however, it is a priority issue for future releases of the application.
CALEA’s mission is to improve the quality and professionalism of public safety services internationally, and this new release is another example of the commitment CALEA has made to ensuring it remains the Gold Standard for public safety agencies.
